Collection: MEMENTO AMORI

As a designer Renato has an appreciation of beautiful objects and surroundings. Growing up in Italy, there was/is a culture of good design and Renato can't help but want to add to the world of not only what people wear, but also of what they surround themselves with.

His continuous love of Pompeii and history has inspired a fascination of skulls as a reminder of the past and past lives. In line with Ancient Roman appreciation, snakes were a prominent and symbolic motif in Ancient Roman jewelry, representing healing, protection and rebirth and served as a protective talisman. The association with the god Asclepius and the snake's ability to shed its skin contributed to the symbol's connection with healing and immortality.

Always appealing to the pleasure of having an object that has a good weight and feel to the touch, these sterling silver, precious and semi-precious objects are a cheeky addition to the world of Renato Cipullo. All this culminated into the Memento Amori Collection, a play on the latin phrase of "memento mori". Memento mori for Renato represents death and life. In Italy they say "goditi la vita perché è bella", meaning life is beautiful when you enjoy it, or live life to the fullest. Symbols of the overt and ambiguous variety of different aspects of life : skulls, snakes, hearts and money.
